New Opening : Honor

4 Feb

The designer behind the NY-based label, Giovanna Randall, will be opening a shop in the Meat Packing Distric on February 22.

I just discovered the brand and the way the designer describes her approach to woman’s pleasure and the concept behind her work cought my attention:

“I started asking myself, ‘What do you think Sophia Loren’s couch looks like?’ or ‘What kind of typewriter would Grace Kelly have used?”

It’s almost like creating a character and a whole world around it.  Also, Randall says: “I fantasize about coming by the shop and being able to pick up a lovely party dress and wonderful bouquet of flowers en route to a friend’s birthday dinner.” Crystal clear, Randall’s dream is to turn Honor into a multidimensional lifestyle brand… Could that be the future of fashion?

RED Carpet

26 Jan

While they were both matching with the Golden Globe Awards‘ carpet, the two Mad Men icons seemed to be competing for the most glamorous red look… January Jones was wearing a Versace low-cut dress and Christina Hendricks, a Romona Keveza romantic silk crepe dress.

The two actresses looked undeniably stunning, however -to me- Christina (Joan) is way more attractive and feminine that any other Hollywood beauty.

My admiration is such that I even ordered online the book The Fashion File, written by the serie’s brilliant costume designer, Janie Bryant, where she gives tips and advice on the famous Mad Men look. Even though I love the confort casual chic because it enables me to move as much as I want, I think it’s inspiring to absorb different kinds of styles and let them travel in our heads… A sort of fashion fresh air that makes the rest a little lighter 🙂 Have a nice day!

I’m happy as a bird but I must admit I have a little crush on dark fashion, skull head and skeleton accessories… But only in small dose and with the right purpose. Check it out…

Mad Men Is Bringing Real Women Into Fashion

(In English here below)

Velvet In My Closet

15 Dec

A few days ago, I had a crush on one of Nicole Richie‘s looks, all from her second line, Winter Kate. I analysed more the picture and I managed to come down to ONE item that I would really die to have in my closet (very interesting exercice btw, more or less the same idea as “you end up alone on an island, you can keep just ONE thing – what do you choose?): her georgous blue velvet shorts.

Winter Kate, Saxon Velvet Short, $ 165 (sold out)

Then I saw Alexa Chung created the same shorts for her collection forMadewell and got all happy on my fashion island… But where will I find my winter shorts? …

Alexa Chung for Madewell, $88 (sold out!!)

Unfortunately, I don’t have the answer to that question yet, but I’m working on it… Instead, I bought velvet black leggings, because they were 30% off and also because I thought if I’d get really desperate I could cut them shorts.

Velvet Leggings (Remember... leggings are not pants)

Padded Cape/Jacket, Napapijri
